Each trade gets the same $1,000, win or lose. The deepest setback was −$5,223, from November 2007 to April 2009. The average trade made money in 19 of 23 years. Trades before the first published alert were rebuilt by applying the rules to past prices.

How it works

Three steps, every trade

  1. Step 01

    Find the window.

    Each year, we look for S&P 500 stocks that rose over the same stretch of the calendar in at least 12 of the last 15 years, then check the stock is behaving as it usually does going in.

  2. Step 02

    Buy when the window opens.

    Place the buy on the start date, before the closing bell.

  3. Step 03

    Sell when the window closes.

    Place the sell on the end date, before the closing bell, win or lose. There is nothing to do in between.

About 6 in 10 made money. The average winner gained +10.5%; the average loser lost −8.7%.
